Change the world in 48 hours!
In 2013, I participate in the Global Service Jam. With groups of professionals from different disciplines we together try to propose creative service deign address the world’s toughest issues.
First thing in the two-day workshop is to put people in different groups on the topic they are interested in. Individuals propose their ideas to others, and if someone echoes to the idea, the team forms. With the interest about "Global Data for Local Community", I’m grouped with Mindy, Alex, Chum, and Jawette, two students and two working professionals in LA.
Special thanks to the organizer of Global Service Jam 2013 and all the participants for the big Harlem Shake.
Likuid, with the K
Likuid is an IoT product that will measure your water consumption and inform you when you reach your daily limit. All the data will sync to the cloud and user can review their water usage on their smart device. Just download the app and finish the in-app registration, the Likuid device will be sent to your place and you can start a new water-saving life with Likuid.
Quick ideation, quick validation
The design process begins with a quick idea pitch that each of us will present a idea in one minute. The one idea that five of us agree to is the data of water usage; it is difficult to measure our water consumption, and if there is a way for people to start caring about their water usage, that will benefit the community of LA. With that topic in mind, we then go out on the street to talk to people and to further validate this need.
Present the product creatively
After some interviews with other people, we’re confident that an internet-connected device that tracks water usage on every household water outlet is promising.,but the question now becomes how do we present the idea. We decide to make a MVP (minimum viable product) on top of the shower head, and begin to sketch out the rough idea of the product and its feature and user journey. To find some tools and material we can build our prototype, we accidentally find Grover and Big Bird puppet in the prop box. The prototype of our product is made of Play-Doh, and we also make Big Bird and Grover to do a performance about the scenario of our product.
