Lessons from M2
Our design team in Wistron creates M2, the transformable Bluetooth speaker like on other in the category, however, M2 suffers from multiple problems. M25 is the product that continues the legacy of transformable strap from M2 and tries to solve the problems of it.
From our previous interviews and observations we find the length of the strap will affect the sound quality when people wearing in around the neck; the two speakers around the neck are facing the front instead of facing upwards to the ears due to the length. We start a research on ergonomics and try to find out what is the proper length for neck-rounding product, and the research result is shared with another speaker project M3. When the distance between speakers and ears are shorten, the acoustic chamber can also be smaller and provide similar sound quality.
What’s new in Bluetooth Speaker?
The market of Bluetooth speaker is now very saturated, and the products are now in two extremes occupied by top brands on one side and cheap Chinese speaker on the other side. With all the effort we put in Music Wrap, M25, a product from a small startup team, can be seen on the global market. Unbox Therapy has the video reviewing M25 and gets 1.4 million views. Even through he points out something that he doesn't like, but that is still a encouragement for Music Wrap to keep innovate and improve the product in the future.
M25: Lighter, more compact
M25 is the new product from Music Wrap. It features flexible strap and compact size that it can be easily carried for all kinds of applications. When paired with smartphones, it streams music, and because it is unlike headphones attached to ears, it prevents the hearing-damage from long-time listening. The two speakers rounding the neck creates a stereo personal sound field. M25 innovate the way people listen to music.
The Kickstarter campaign
We also launch a Kickstarter campaign to promote M2 for potential foreign market by working with a marketing agency; together we frame M25 as the “most versatile” listening experience. The Kickstarter campaign is successful. Overall we have more than $20,000 pledged, and we further sell M25 through a German channel Tchibo and Amazon Launchpad.
Special thanks to all the supporter on Kickstarter, design lead Luke Wu, Jimmy Chen, PM head Peggy Lai, director Elton Fang, and all the teams involved in this project.
